Head Tutor and Artistic Director Jordan McArthur is directing a one-act play at Arts Theatre Cronulla as part of their Bareboards initiative.
The Poached Café is a drama set in an undisclosed modern regional town. The plot comes to a head when a stranger enters the town and is mistaken for a violent criminal. Focusing on one woman’s moral struggle as she battles against her own humanity and the shared wishes of the community, the play eloquently handles themes of community politics, deviance, popular culture, murder, morality, and social isolation.
The aim of Bareboards is to provide opportunities for members to view interesting work or to get involved in smaller productions in a range of roles. It also allows writers and directors an opportunity to stage original work for a public audience.
